The Arizona Cardinals bring Christmas cheer to Oz and De Paul Manor
The Arizona Cardinal's vibrant red and white colors were showcased in the ramada area of St. Vincent de Paul's transitional housing at their main campus. Cardinals staff, mascot, cheerleaders, and partners visited spreading Christmas joy and cheer to the residents.
"It provides us with somebody who cares and shows we haven't been forgotten about," said Guadalupe Valenzuela, a resident since March. "It gives us hope of getting back up and into the community."
The holiday celebration featured haircuts, flu shots, dental check-ups, food, gifts, and team swag.
"It's tough out here right now," retired Cardinals football player, Kareem Martin said. "Anyone can be out here in any situation and fall on hard times... to be able to help people and put a smile on their faces, see the joy they have from getting gifts today and all the wellness things the Cardinals are providing is really special for me to be a part of."
Maria Castro, SVdP's Wellness Coordinator, acknowledged that hearts were full and spirits were lifted by the Cardinals visit.
"Oh, they're excited," she said. "You can see the love they have for the Cardinals. They wait for this every year."
The laughter and positivity lingered in the air, echoing the true spirit of the holiday season. The Arizona Cardinals making touchdowns on the field and touching lives off the field.
