On December 18, 2012, our Moms of Ganamos were honored with a graduation celebration for completing the Ganamos course. After 13 weeks of learning, creating, and adopting a variety of roles, some familiar, some unfamiliar, the Moms of Ganamos got to shine bright and be recognized for their efforts. The ceremony included each Mom standing onstage and receiving a certificate and a gift card to Michael's.
Days prior to the ceremony, the Moms put themselves out there in a major way by allowing their finished products to be on display along with a product description and a biography of themselves,
Anyone who passed through the main campus could vote on which craft they liked the best.
The voters spoke and Reyna won for her clever craft of an upcycled flower pot made from an old coffee can. By painting the can and spreading out the top half so a bouquet of flowers could be positioned in it, she elegantly transformed the coffee can into a beautiful flower pot. While she was presented with the reward for favorite craft, other Moms received recognition for their hard work as well. So many of them endured the rigors of attending the course and managing their own business, but one Mom stood out with her level of dedication: Susan.
A dedicated student, Susan won the Outstanding Student Award for near perfect attendance of the course.
As the Moms gleamed with pride and their children rooted them on, it's safe to say that the entire program proved to be a priceless experience for the Moms. Without a doubt, the most rewarding part of Ganamos was watching the Moms grow and receive the much deserved self worth their accomplishments and talents brought them.
Thank you to the Moms, the staff, and the volunteers of SVDP for a successful round of Ganamos. Stay tuned for the next installment of Ganamos which will begin in early 2013.
