Remember those school walk-a-thons? The St. Vincent de Paul Golf-a-Thon is like that…but for adults. Business leaders, community supporters, and golf addicts come together to raise money and prevent homelessness for families. One day, 100 holes, and a goal of $100,000 in support for families.

We hope everyone who signs up (captains as well as individual players) can commit to raising $2,500 or more from their family, friends, and colleagues. The SVdP team will support you along the way. We’ll give you stories, introduce you to people who want to support the golfers in this event, and share ways to make supporting your efforts easy.

Become a Team Captain.

Have friends who like golf AND who like to support our community? Sign-up as a team captain by emailing Reg Lane, [email protected]. You bring 2-5 friends who have the same goal as you: raise lots of money, play a whole day of golf, and have fun supporting our neighbors!

FAQ

Remember those school Walk-a-Thons, where you go around in a circle over and over, while raising money for a good cause? It’s like that—but playing golf with your friends. Bellair Golf Park is a Par 59, 18-hole, easy-to-traverse course. The goal is to play 100 golf holes in one day…and still be standing to attend the Community Afterparty, where we’ll have food, drinks, range and putting competitions, and the announcement of winners!

In 2025, there were nearly 90,000 evictions in Maricopa County. Many of those were families with children who just needed a little bit of financial help to pay rent, avoid eviction, and avoid homelessness. We’re using golf, competition, and fun to raise $100,000 to support those families. Every $1,000 we can raise helps a family stay together and in their home.

Great question! First step is to email Reg Lane ([email protected]) and tell him if you want to sign-up as a team captain (which means you’ll invite others to join your team) or a player (which means we’ll put you on an awesome team). Reg will share with you the next few steps: attend a virtual meeting, set up your personal support page, and how to share your efforts with others.

Team Captains are the real MVPs. They commit to bringing together 2-5 additional golfers to join their efforts. The Captain will be able to attend the SVdP Golf-a-Thon Launch event (March 3rd @ 5pm), help select gear for their team, and lead an incredible community effort to help families who need a little bit of support and compassion.

The most important way to support your favorite player or team is to donate! Each player will have a personalized support page—and all family, friends, and colleagues are encouraged to help their favorite player reach their $2,500 goal. The goal amount matters for two reasons: raising $2,500 will support 2-4 families in our community through SVdP’s eviction prevention efforts AND it will earn the player a limited Ping Hoofer golf bag to celebrate their participation and success.

…a ton of fun! The schedule is still coming together, but broadly, golfers will get out on the course at 7am. They’ll be in groups of 2-3 so they can get around the course quickly! There will be snack and hydration stations along the course—and food will be served in boxes for a grab-and-go lunch! Golfers will play 100 holes…or until they can’t swing anymore. And at 5pm, we’ll begin our Community Afterparty, where family, friends, colleagues, and other sponsors can join for food, drinks, range games, putting competitions, and for the announcement of winners!

All support matters to our goal of helping families—so THANK YOU for doing the most you can, whatever that looks like. And there are some cool goals/marks we’re aiming to hit.

Overall, the event goal is $100,000. We’re asking each player to commit to raising $2,500—and when a players hit that goal, they’ll receive a limited Ping Hoofer golf bag! Finally, the team who raises the most money to support families in our community will win a 2-night, 3-day golf trip to Briggs Ranch, a private stay-and-play club in San Antonio, TX!

Sponsors are community heroes! They jump in to make sure that kids don’t become homeless in our community! We have three sponsorship levels and each comes with opportunities to have golfers play, to have attendees at the Community Afterparty, and to have their brand promoted in all media opportunities. Sponsor groups will also get to play golf or hang at the Afterparty with some Arizona sports and TV legends!
